Morrison, TN resident and Warren County native William Robert Phifer, age 81, was born April 17, 1931 and died February 2, 2013 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Phifer served in the National Guard, worked for Kern's Bread Company, Gulf Oil Company, Century Electric and Aquatech. He was one of the first people inducted into the Warren County Sports Hall of Fame. He was the son of the late Wiley Paul and Ollie Delma Sparkman Phifer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Phifer and grandson, Stephan Cantrell. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Sally and Paul Cantrell and Cindy Phifer both of McMinnville; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jeffrey Paul and Wanda Cantrell of McMinnville; great-granddaughter, Lauran Cantrell of McMinnville; mother of his daughters, Martha Boyd Barnes of McMinnville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Mary Phifer, James and Kathryn Phifer and Percy and Carolyn Phifer all of McMinnville; sister, Betty Ferguson of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Janie Underwood of McMinnville and several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in High's Chapel with Bobby Newby officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday and 9:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at High's.
