Morris Mathis

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Morris Mathis, age 81, was born December 19, 1931 and died February 8, 2013 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. A retired employee of Powermatic and member of the Ivy Bluff Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for thirty plus years, he was the son of the late Ellis Homer and Lela Frances Jennings Mathis. He was married April 9, 1955 to Beatrice Campbell Mathis of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Geraldine Mathis of McMinnville, David and Marlee Mathis of Rochester, MN and Robert and Sherie Mathis of the Centertown Community; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and James Winnett of McMinnville; brother and sister-in-law, Perry and Karen Mathis of McMinnville; sister and brother-in-law, Willene and Jimmy Ford of McMinnville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and aunt, Macon Todd of Woodbury, TN. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2013 in High's Chapel with Marion West and George King officiating. Burial will follow in the Ivy Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and 9:00 a.m. until time of service Sunday at High's.
