Frank "Bigfoot" Hawkins

McMinnville resident and Anderson County, TN native Frank "Bigfoot" Hawkins, age 81, was born May 27, 1931 and died April 12, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness. A ginseng digger and member of Long Mountain Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, he was the son of the late Levi Jackson and Elizabeth Tackett Hawkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Hawkins. He was married January 18, 1950 to Betty Hawkins of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Catherine Sunday of Wisconsin, Linda Taylor of Clinton, TN, Juanita (Doug) Baker of Brunswick, GA and Christine Hawkins and Bruce Hawkins both of McMinnville; twelve grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Hessel Murray of Ohio; brother, Roy Hawkins of Lake City, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at Long Mountain Baptist Church with Douglas Hawkins and Bill Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Cagle Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sequatchie County, TN. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Long Mountain Baptist Church. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
