Euwel Dwain "Hog Jowl" Hillis

Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Euwel Dwain "Hog Jowl" Hillis, age 75, was born February 9, 1938 and died May 6, 2013 at River Park Hospital following a short illness. A retired firefighter with the City of Atlanta, GA, owner/operator of Hillis Grocery, United States Army veteran and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Thurman and Sylvia Hillis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Dwain Hillis and step-father, Gordon Breedlove. He was married April 27, 1977 to Sharon Nesbitt Hillis of Rock Island, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a special aunt, Iva Lee Curtis of McMinnville; very special friend, Betty Powell Short of McMinnville; grandson, Jason Harley Dwain Greeno of McMinnville and several cousins. A graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at White Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN with Johnny Haston officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at High's.
