Mabel Louise Stokes Guerard

McMinnville resident and DeKalb County, TN native Mabel Louise Stokes Guerard, age 96, was born April 29, 1917 and died May 26, 2013 at her residence following an extended illness. A retired housekeeper and a member of New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Jennie Stokes. She was married August 26, 1941 to Augustus Lewis Guerard who preceded her in death 1987. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Vera Guerard; step-daughter, Marva Edna Farmer; two sisters, Lillie Jim Peters and Annie Mae Ramsey; and brother, Verlon Stokes. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jennifer Guerard of Nashville, TN and Victor Guerard of McMinnville; one step-son, Augustus Guerard and wife Linda of New Jersey; step-daughter, Helen Brown of Antioch, TN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 in High's Chapel with Bro. Douglas Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at High's.
