McMinnville, TN resident and Cannon County, TN native Mazel Lee Hughes, age 83, was born July 7, 1929 and died June 18, 2013 at Woodbury Nursing Center following an extended illness. Retired from O.M.C. and a member of Pleasant View Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Shelah Ray and Amby Gerdellie Youngblood Thomas. She was married to Jim Alford Hughes who preceded her in death November 15, 2003. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Shelah Ray Thomas; and three sisters, Lucille Prater, Nadine Smith and Agnes Nichols. She is survived by two children and their spouses, Scott and Linda Hughes of McMinnville and Roy and Tamara Hughes of McMinnville; eight grandchildren and spouses, Mitch Hughes, Lisha Myers and Kevin Lewis, Laura and Brandon Miller, Samantha Porter, Jessica Hughes and Jedidiah Hughes all of McMinnville, Samantha and Dustin Mingle of Liberty, TN and Alexandra and Matthew Hancock of Woodbury, TN; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arlis Thomas of Woodbury, TN and Alan Thomas of Florence, MS; and sister, Thelma Hicks of Nashville, TN. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 in High's Chapel with Kevin Deason officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at High's.
