Jerry "Deet" Smith

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Jerry "Deet" Smith, age 47, was born November 4, 1965 and died July 5, 2013 at United Regional Medical Center in Manchester, TN following an extended illness. A timber worker and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Myrl Thurman and Martha Nell Haney Smith. He was married to Eula Darlene Jones Smith who preceded him in death January 7, 2000. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Smith Mounts. He is survived by two children, Jonathan Smith and Derek Jeremiah Smith both of McMinnville; granddaughter, Bentlee Perez of McMinnville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Jeannie and Verbile Wanamaker of McMinnville and Anna Smith of McMinnville; one brother, Timothy Smith of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service and interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Grange Hall Cemetery with Fred Mica Roberts officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday and from 10:00 a.m. unti 2:00 p.m. Sunday at High's.
