Elvin Curtis

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Elvin Curtis, age 81, was born September 27, 1931 and died July 12, 2013 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A farmer and nurseryman and attended the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late John Jeff and Mattie McGee Curtis. He was married December 1, 1951 to Mabel Rene Hennessee Curtis who preceded him in death February 7, 2008. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy Husky; and special cousins, Sam McGee, Lorene McGee and Albert Martin. He is survived by daughter, Sharon Curtis Patrick of McMinnville; grandson, Jason Patrick and wife Tabitha of McMinnville; three great-grandchildren, Lucas, Kendall and Jenna Patrick all of McMinnville; sister, Ruby Hayes of Covington, GA; nephew, Curtis Hayes of Covington, GA; and niece, Carlie Groover of Duluth, GA. He was a long-time resident of the Fairview Community, but he grew up in and loved the Dark Hollow area. He also loved to coon hunt. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 in High's Chapel with Jonathan Stubblefield and Tim Long officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at High's.
