Joice Mayes

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Joice Mayes, age 79, was born January 26, 1934 and died August 11, 2013 at her residence following a brief illness. A sales clerk with JC Penney, secretary with Warren County Livestock, homemaker and member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Ruth Taylor Milstead. Mrs. Mayes was married June 29, 1952 to Howard Mayes of McMinnville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kerry and Lindsay Mayes of McMinnville; two grandsons, Jake and Will Mayes both of McMinnville; sister, Elaine Mason of Knoxville, TN; two brothers, Jimmy and Pete Milstead both of McMinnville; sisters-in-law, Betty Walker and Bobbie Mayes both of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in High's Chapel with Chris Keele officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and 11:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at High's. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caring Hearts United, Avalon Hospice or Mt. Zion Cemetery all in c/o High's.
