McMinnville resident and Grundy County, TN native Bruce "Tadpole" Stevens, Jr., age 35, was born December 5, 1977 and died September 5, 2013 at River Park Hospital following a sudden illness. A welder with Precision Engineering and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of Bruce Howard Stevens, Sr. and the late Donna Tate. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Celina Stevens; grandparents, Thurman and Ruth Tate; niece, Kayla Brooke Lafever and nephew, Zackery Earl Hill. He was married to Christy Guire Stevens who survives. In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his step-mother, Vickie Stevens; two step-daughters, Chasidy Hash and Tiffany McCoig; three grandchildren, Kaylee, Lottie and Kaylan; five sisters, Tammy Lafever (Dallas Holmes), Tina Alsalihy (Jumah Alsalihy), Tonya Stevens, Henrietta Stevens (Jorge Chavez) and Sheena Bates (James Bates); six nephews, Cam Bates, Zackery Bates, Nicolas Chavez, Haider Alsalihy, Amir Alsalihy and Layth Alsalihy; niece, Shelby Bates and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins. Bruce was a wonderful husband, brother and friend to all. We will greatly miss him. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Altamont Church of Christ with Joe Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the Altamont Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at High's and 12:00 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at Altamont Church of Christ. The family requests memorial contributions be made to High's to assist them with funeral expenses.
