Geneva Scoggins

Sparta, TN resident (formerly of McMinnville) and White County, TN native Geneva Scoggins, age 80, was born January 21, 1933 and died September 11, 2013 at Life Care Center of Sparta following a sudden illness. Retired from Spartan Industries and a member of Shellsford Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Otto M. and Elizabeth Elliott Myers. She was married January 24, 1949 to John Thomas Scoggins who preceded her in death July 5, 1975. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lynville, Gordon and Joe Myers; and granddaughter, Allison Janell Scoggins. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, John Nicholas and Gail Scoggins of Sparta, TN and Danny Scoggins of Rock Island, TN; special daughter-in-law, Brenda Gooch Scoggins of Walling, TN; two grandsons and spouses, Casey and Amy Scoggins of Spencer, TN and Shaun and Bela Young of St. Robert, MO; two granddaughters and spouse, Sarah and Jamie Lohorn of Walling, TN and Jennifer Scoggins of Walling, TN; six great-grandchildren; and niece, Debbie Shumake and husband Rory of Lavergne, TN. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 in High's Chapel with Bro. Paul Allen, Bro. Robert Longshore and Danny Scoggins officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at High's.
