Robert Edward Elder

Muncie, IN resident and Coffee County, TN native Robert Edward Elder, age 82, was born January 29, 1931 and died November 10, 2013 at his residence in Indiana. Mr. Elder was employed by Borg-Warner for thirty-one and a half years before retiring in 1988. He was a United States Air Force veteran of Korea and a member of Fountain Square United Methodist Church. He was a member of Maplewood Golf Course, an avid bowler and golfer, and enjoyed fishing. He was the son of the late Jesse and Nell Deberry Elder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Earl Elder; sister, Wilma Elder; and granddaughter, Jessica Lee Elder. He was married to his wife of fifty-eight years, Jean Phillips Elder of Muncie, IN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Dawn Elder of Muncie, IN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy and Cliff Crickmore of Muncie, IN and Sheryl and Shawn Howell of Woodbury, TN; sister, Betty Sue Jennings of Woodbury, TN; grandson, Joshua Elder and wife Jessica of Bremen, OH; three granddaughters, Rebecca Elder of Nicholasville, KY and Beth and Cara Janney both of Muncie, IN; four great-granddaughters, Erin, Kylie, Madison and Izabella; and four great-grandsons, Aiden, Eli, Mason and Logan. A graveside service and interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 at Shady Grove Cemetery in Coffee County. Full military honors will be administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday at High's.
