Judith Van Cleve Cleary

March 9, 1931 — November 20, 2013

Judith Anne Van Cleve Cleary, age 82, a Knoxville, TN resident and Englewood, NJ native died November 20, 2013 at the Baptist Health Care Center, Lenoir City, TN following a brief illness. Mrs. Cleary was a former McMinnville, TN resident, retired teacher with the Warren County School System, member of First Presbyterian Church, McMinnville and daughter of the late Philip and Gertrude Weber Wagner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Richard Van Cleve and John Cleary; sister, Alice Lindstrom; and niece, Karon Lindstrom. She is survived by three sons, Andrew (Laurie) Van Cleve of Covington, TN, Bruce (Lucy) Van Cleve of Knoxville, TN and David (Margie) Van Cleve of Yakima, WA; one daughter Kay (Jeff) Grissom of Greeneville, TN; three step-children, Jeff (Marie) Cleary of Chattanooga, TN, Mike (Nola) Cleary of Roanoke, VA and Tim Cleary of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Eric (Molly) Van Cleve, Adrian (Ali) Van Cleve, Whitney (Rory) Elliott, Johnathan Van Cleve, Samantha Grissom, Philip Van Cleve, Kelli Grissom, Robert Van Cleve, Anne Marie Van Cleve and Jasper Andoy; brother-in-law, Dick Lindstrom; nephew, Rick Lindstrom; and niece, Donna. Mrs. Cleary was a graduate of Teaneck High School, Teaneck, NJ and Dickinson College in Carlise, PA. She was willing to serve others which lead her into the teaching field and church ministries. She was active with youth programs, women in the church and various committees. She was a friendly lady who could speak to anyone. She enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader, loved to garden and being outdoors. Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday November 30, 2013 in High's Chapel with Harry Green officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries, 418 Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917 or the charity of your choice.
