Dortha Palmer

Dortha Helen Palmer age 90, a Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native died February 15, 2014 at River Park Hospital following a short illness. She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist Church, the daughter of the late Fred C. and Gertie Bishop Moore and was married to Wayne C. Palmer who preceded her in death July 8, 2008. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, F.C., O.J. and William P. Moore and four sisters, Mary Pack, Freida Delong, Margie Delong and Gracie Lawson. Mrs. Palmer is survived by nephews, Eddie Scott and Freddie Scott both of Rock Island, TN; six grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren; one brother, Samuel Moore of Maryville, TN; one sister, Barbara Childress of Texas. Several nieces and additional nephews also survive. Graveside service and interment will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Long Cemetery with Willard Ralph, Jr. officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
