Carl Denton Powers

Carl Denton Powers, age 85, a Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren Co., TN native died March 18, 2014 in River Park Hospital following a brief illness.He was a self employed nurseryman, veteran of the U.S. Army, member of the Harmony Church of Christ and son of the late Hubert and Clara Mae Driver Powers.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wife, Carmon Rose Scott Powers March 15, 2010; son, Jeffery Scott Powers, brother, Eddie Powers and sisters, Betty Rowland and Molly Minton.Mr. Powers is survived by son, Mark (Anita) Powers of the Rocky River Community; three grandchildren, Amos Powers, Cookeville, TN; Jasper Powers and Nola (Chris) Green of Spencer, TN; two great-grandchilden, J.C. Green and Allie Rose Green of Spencer; two brothers, Joe (Evolyn) Powers, McMinnville; Lloyd (Stella) Powers of Spencer; sister, Mary (Carl) Davis of Murfreesboro.  Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014 in High's Chapel with Bob McCoy to officiate.  Interment will follow in the White Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County.  Visitaiton will be 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 10:00 a.m. Friday until time of service at Hgh's.
