McMinnville resident and Warren County native J.B. "Cobb" Roberts, age 83, was born February 18, 1931 and died June 17, 2014 at St. Thomas West in Nashville, TN following an extended illness. A self-employed nurseryman, United States Army veteran of Korea and member of Smyrna Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Ben and Lela Coppinger Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Mylie Cantrell and sister, Lena Mai Panter. Mr. Roberts was married April 9, 1955 to Loretta Wanamaker Roberts of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two very special children, Bo (Frances) Jennings and Melissa Jennings both of McMinnville; three grandchildren, Danessa (B.J.) Rutledge, Talesha Jennings and Chattum Jennings all of McMinnville; three great-grandchildren, Jadelynn Cantrell, Drystan Cantrell and Draedyn Cantrell; special nephew, Terry Panter of McMinnville and longtime friend, Paul Jones of McMinnville. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 in High's Chapel with Jonathan Stubblefield and Ronnie Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the Philadelphia Cemetery Walker Annex with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m. until time of service Friday at High's. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House or Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in memory of Mylie Beth Cantrell, both c/o High's.
