Royce Allen Davenport

Royce Allen Davenport, a McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native died July 1, 2014 at his residence following a one year illness. He was the owner and operator of Quick Wash Laundries and West Main Company and son of the late Ulus Floyd and Vergie Atha Jones Davenport. He was elected mayor of McMinnville in 1986 and served until 1990 and again from 2000 to 2008. Mr. Davenport was a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam, member of American Legion Post 173 and First Baptist Church, McMinnville. He was married September 22, 2001 to Patricia "Patti" Pearson Davenport who survives. He is also survived by daughter, Michelle (Jay) DePass of Mt. Juliet, TN; son, Rad (Lauren) Davenport of Knoxville, TN; granddaughters, Skylar DePass and Ansley DePass; sister, Allison "Al" Alvida Woody of Columbia, TN; brother Woody (Jeanette) Davenport of McMinnville; step-mother, Velma Davenport of East Ridge, TN; two nephews, two nieces, four great-nephews and two great-nieces. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church with John May to officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Military grave rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 173 and V.F.W. Post 5064. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and 10:00 A.M. until 1:20 P.M. Thursday at High's. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, c/o High's, Inc.
