Miss Jonnye Kathryn “Kathy” Pendergraph, a McMinnville resident, passed away July 10, 2014. Kathy was surrounded by friends and family, those who loved her so much. She was born July 31, 1955 in McMinnville, Warren County, TN. Kathy was the daughter of Jesse Merrill Pendergraph and Audrey Omega Craig Pendergraph. Kathy attended Warren County Special Education Classes. She attended the “Making Dreams Come True” class. She attended the Adult Learning Center and received the Certificate for the Honor Society. She attended the Adult Basic Education Classes and the National Adult Basic Education Classes. In 1981, she received “Most Dedicated Award” in her aerobic class at the McMinnville Civic Center. In 1982, Kathy was the top fund raiser for the Warren County High School Band trip to the Tangerine Bowl. She received numerous awards including walking with the Governor of the State of Tennessee in the Walkathon. Kathy was a member of the First Baptist Church, McMinnville. She was active in the church and always carried her Bible everywhere. Kathy was known for her outgoing personality and her love for everyone. She had a winning smile and was so full of love and kindness. She is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Myrl Dean and Willard Mills of Manchester, TN, Treva and Tyrone Sparkman of McMinnville, and Ruth Lawson of Hermitage, TN; brother, Harold “Buddy” Pendergraph of Sparta, TN; nieces, Juli Ann Lawson of Nashville, TN and Tajhia Vanderkooi of Sparta, TN; nephews, Kirt and Priscilla Mills of Manchester, TN and Mitch and Jackie Lawson of Woodbury, TN; great-nephew, Nathan Lawson of Woodbury, TN; two step-great-nieces, Abby and Allysa Anderson of Manchester, TN; three aunts, Paulene Engstrom of Alpha, IL, Betty Burch of McMinnville and Mazel Pendergraph of McMinnville; special cousin, Sonjia Woodlee Winfree; special family, Mama Wilma, Yancy, Don, Jr., Charles and families; special friends who have helped so much, Johnny and Gail Atnip; and special caregivers, Sheila Brown and Donna Harrell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Merrill Pendergraph and Audrey Omega Craig Pendergraph; sister, Barbara Ann Pendergraph; and grandparents, Sam and Alice Walker Craig and Julia Fennimore. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the First Baptist Church with Donald Owens, John May, Harold Hunter, Gail Atnip and Kennette Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Shellsford Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at High’s. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Youth Group c/o Bo Hendrix.
