Danny "D.R." Ryan Martin

Danny Ryan "D.R." Martin, a McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native died August 30, 2014 at NHC Healthcare, McMinnville following an illness of six and one-half years. He was a masonry contractor, member of the Campaign Church of God and son of the late Joe and Virginia Raper Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Janice Martin and best friend, Big Jim Redmon. D.R. was an accomplished vocalist who loved to share his gift with the world. His musical career, which spanned over five decades was accompanied by lots of talented musicians who played with him in several Southern Rock Bands during those years. He was always happiest when on stage performing with his band mates for an audience or just sitting around playing and singing in jam sessions. Besides his love for music, he was an avid Tennessee Vols football fan. He is survived by two sisters, Rebecca Faye (Ernest) Bost and Susan Martin both of McMinnville; two brothers Larry Joe (Frances) Martin of Walling, TN and Johnnie Martin of Smithville, TN; special niece and caregiver, Kelley Snyder of Rock Island, TN; special great-nephew, Luke Briest of McMinnville and very special friends, Steve Harvey and Jack Chisam of McMinnville. A celebration of life service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 in the front dining hall of NHC Healthcare, McMinnville. Steve Harvey, Jack Chisam and Jeff Kesley will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the NHC Angel Project Fund or the Nursing Home Christmas Fund.
