James Clinton Strode

McMinnville, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native James Clinton Strode, age 81, was born February 13, 1933 and died September 19, 2014 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN following a short illness. A retired employee of DeZurik, a United States Army veteran and a member of Clark United Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Clifton and Mary Shockley Strode. He was married September 10, 1966 to Jeannette Ford Strode of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children and their spouses, Ronald L. and Debra Strode of McMinnville, Lester and Angela Strode of St. Louis, Missouri, Dennis Ray Strode of Maryland, Vivian and Richard Vaughn of Murfreesboro, TN, Curtis and Kimberly Strode of McMinnville and Calvin Strode of Antioch, TN; eleven grandchildren, Heather, Stephon, Brooke, Blake, Valerie, Brandon, Curtis, Jr., Bradley, Reneisha, Marcus and Jamie; five great-grandchildren, Sybril, Samiyah, Tremayne, Jr., Jamison and Jasia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Benton and Rosalyn Strode of California and Ralph and Ruby Strode of Virginia; three sisters and brother-in-law, Loretta Evans, Jeannette and Horace Arnold, and Christine Grayson all of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Jean Strode of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Clark United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Vance officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 12:00 (noon) until the time of service Wednesday at the church.
