Ruth Boyd Ramsey

Ruth Boyd Ramsey, age 93, a McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native died September 29, 2014 at Raintree Manor following an extended illness. She was a member of the Church of Christ, charter member of the Church of Christ at Westwood, an educator who taught at Brookside, McMinnville Grammar, West Elementary and William Biles schools for over forty years in the McMinnville City and Warren County School Systems. Mrs. Ramsey was a graduate of Central High School. She received an associates degree from David Lipscomb College when it was only a two year school and a bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State College in education. She was born at the Gardner Place on Old Beersheba Pike in McMinnville to the late Fernando Campbell and Sarah Jane Maxwell Boyd. She was married February 9, 1951 to David Eldie Ramsey who preceded her in death March 29, 2005. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Henry, Austin, Clark, Tallman, Bill, Fred, Robert and F.C. Boyd, Jr.; sisters, Roberta Boyd, Lorena Boyd Margaret Simon Northcutt and infant sibling in 1906. Mrs. Ramsey is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Boyd & Angela Ramsey of McMinnville; granddaughter, Belle Ramsey of McMinnville; brother and sister-in-law, Hubert & Billie Gray Boyd of McMinnville; sisters-in-law, Thelma Boyd of McMinnville, Kathleen R. Smith of Rocky Face, GA, and Lucy Ramsey of Nashville, TN; brother-in-law, Reeder B. Ramsey, Jr. of Muncie, IN; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Graveside service and interment will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Mt. View Cemetery with Larry Boyd and Clark Boyd to officiate. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 and Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at High's. Memorial donations may be made to the F.C. Boyd, Sr. Christian School.
