Billy Joe Gillentine

McMinnville, TN resident and Davidson County, TN native Billy Joe Gillentine, age 78, was born June 9, 1936 and died October 2, 2014 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN following a brief illness. Retired from the State of Tennessee Highway Department and a member of Smyrna Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Charlie Clayborne and Rhoda Bell Safley Gillentine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Jewel Gillentine. He was married May 30, 1958 to Barbara Ellen Bates Gillentine of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Carolyn Jo Gillentine Roberts of Woodbury, TN; granddaughter, Helana Carol Roberts; two grandsons, Dustin Joseph Roberts of Nashville, TN and Benjamin Casey Roberts of Short Mountain; great-granddaughter, Mila Lehman; nephew, Douglas Jewel Gillentine of McMinnville; and special friends, Tina Hendrix and Blake Moore. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014 in High's Chapel with Ronald Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at High's.
