McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Ed Yager, age 85, was born December 7, 1928 and died October 31, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Yager was a retired Loan Company Examiner with the State of Tennessee and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He worked in his father's store, Yager Grocery. He also worked at High Funeral Home and AEDC. In his teens, he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Deputy Sheriff under Eldridge Youngblood. He was also a member of the Rescue Squad, National Guard, Public Service Unit, and attended the FBI Academy. He was the son of the late Edward Nathaniel and Frankie Hobson Yager, Jr. He was married September 1, 1950 to Josephine Russell Yager who preceded him in death November 18, 2012. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Betty Lynn York; sister, Betty Lively; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Russell and Jack Ingle. He is survived by son Ed Yager, IV and wife Cheryl of Nashville, TN; Grandson, Christopher York and wife Kristi of Knoxville, TN; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Jane Ingle of McMinnville and Mary Yager of Nashville, TN; brother-in-law, W.S. Lively, Jr. of McMinnville; two sisters-in-law, Mary "Peachy" Russell and Christine Rogers both of Indianapolis, IN; niece, Sally Ingle Turner of McMinnville; and nephew, W.S. "Buddy" Lively, III of Murfreesboro, TN. A graveside service and inurnment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 in Riverside Cemetery with Harry Green officiating. There will be no visitation at High's.
