Billy Joe Chandler

Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Billy Joe Chandler, age 79, was born July 13, 1935 and died November 6, 2014 at his residence following a sudden illness. Retired from Gulf Ice Systems and a member of Eastside Baptist Church, he was the son of the late James Bascom and Jennie Tabitha Hash Chandler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Loyd and J.D. Chandler. He was married February 4, 1974 to Minnie Lou Chandler of Rock Island, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Carey Chandler of Smartt, TN, Dave Chandler of Spencer, TN and Mike Chandler of Walling, TN; three grandchildren, Heather, Logan and Chelsey Chandler; and special cousin, Virginia Chandler Baker and husband Mike of Bone Cave, TN. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 in High's Chapel with Jim Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at High's. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels or Gideon Bibles.
