Mary Etta Rowland Hale

Bone Cave, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Mary Etta Rowland Hale, age 95, was born May 27, 1919 and died December 2, 2014 at her residence following a one-year illness. She was the daughter of the late Henry Herbert and Ella McCormick Rowland. She was married May 2, 1937 to John C. Hale who preceded her in death January 7, 1993. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, Billy Bob Hale; grandson, Billy Dwayne Woodlee; daughter-in-law, Mary Marlyn Hillis Hale; step-granddaughter, Andrea Byrd; three sisters, Margaret McCoy, Johnnie Bell Bryant and Wilma Moody; and four brothers, Herbert, Eugene, Joe and Tom Rowland. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Mason and Patsy Hale of Bone Cave, TN; daughter and son-in-law, June and Preston Huckeby of Rock Island, TN; three grandchildren, Annette McKeehan of McMinnville and Harrison Woodlee and Tammie Gribble both of Rock Island, TN; step-grandson, David Huckeby of Rock Island, TN; six great-grandchildren, Bobby Hodges of Spencer, TN, Christy Guillot of Louisiana, Josh Maranta of McMinnville, Mary Beth Gribble Morelli of Nashville, TN, and Weston and Eastlan Woodlee both of Rock Island, TN; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Rowland of Rock Island, TN and Evelyn Rowland of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Jewell Lee. Mrs. Hale was a retired director of the Van Buren County Senior Companion Program for over 23 years. She was a life-long member of Laurel Creek Baptist Church, and very active in community and civic organizations within Van Buren County for over 75 years. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2014 at Laurel Creek Baptist Church with Jerry Womack and Herb Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday at High's. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Laurel Creek Cemetery Fund or CHEER Mental Health c/o High's.
