Francis Keith McGowan

McMinnville, TN resident and Marion, KS native Francis Keith McGowan, age 93, was born May 2, 1921 and died March 7, 2015 at The Webb House in McMinnville following an extended illness. The son of the late Jacob Samuel and Minnie Emeline Noble McGowan, he was a retired nuclear physicist with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a United States Army veteran of WWII, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oak Ridge, TN, and attended the First Presbyterian Church in McMinnville. He was married July 8, 1994 to Julia Ward McGowan of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five step-children and their spouses, Robert P. Ward of Kansas, Phillip J. and Nina Ward of Texas, Jann and David Dunn of Tennessee, Tom and Marsha Ward of McMinnville and Greg and Sandy Ward of Tennessee; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and sister, Lilly Ludwig of Kansas. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in McMinnville with Harry Green officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
