Ruby Jackson West

June 12, 1927 — March 17, 2015

Ruby Jackson Gay West of McMinnville was born June 12, 1927 and peacefully went to her heavenly reward on March 17, 2015. Mrs. West was a homemaker and nursery woman and was well known for her love of cooking big meals for her family. She was a member of Turning Point United Pentecostal Church where she enjoyed her role of greeting everyone at the door with a warm and welcoming hug. Mrs. West was preceded in death by her husband James Titus West on April 8, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents Marvin L. and Nora Elizabeth Gay, brothers Homer and Gentry Gay, sisters Annie Mai Sparkman, Virgie Colwell, Cloie Caldwell, Bertha Clouse, Pauline James and Dorthy Presley. Survivors include her three sons and spouses Amus (Unita) West, Calvin (Juanita) West and Clayton (Susie) West all of McMinnville. Her grandchildren and spouses include Tim (Melody) West, Tina (Wayne) Hopkins, Jimmy West, Alan (Stacey) West, Jackie (Benita) Troglen, Michael West, Janie Campbell, Angie Bulh, Chrystal (Richard) Rhea, and Troy Rogers. She is also survived by brothers and spouses James (Darlene) Gay and John E. (Lois) Gay, 17 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Mrs. West also spent the last few years as a resident of McMinnville Boarding Home where she was loved and taken care of by the caring staff. She is also survived by her friend and roommate Mrs. Geneva Fisher. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday March 19, 2015 in High's Chapel with Wayne Hopkins and Tim West to officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday March 18, 2015 and 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of service at High's.
