McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Edwin "Ed" Ezekiel Chastain, age 84, was born August 18, 1930 and died April 3, 2015 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following a three-month illness. Mr. Chastain was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing with neighbors and friends. A retired U.S. Postal Service rural carrier, a farmer and a member of Shellsford Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Miles Thomas and Myra Smoot Chastain, Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Elsie Chastain, Zora Waldrop, Myra Elizabeth Chastain and Billie Vivian Jones; three brothers, J.T., Davis and Ray Chastain; nephew, Jim Cantrell; and niece, Myra Lee Chastain. He is survived by eight nieces, nephews and their spouses, Vickie Kell, Marsha and Jack Reaves, and Carol and Jerry Phillips all of McMinnville, and Myra and Al Charleston, Dickie Jones, Fay and Jerry McDaniel, Sue and Ronald Jordan, and Lewis and Lisa Jones all of Carroll County, TN; seven great-nieces, great-nephews and their spouses, Bryan and Kristen Kell, Jason and Lisa Norris, Lynne and Josh Hildrich, Jeremy and Penny Kell, Brad Kinney, Ron and Britni Jordan, and Miles Cantrell; and cousins, Grace Nuckolls, Sue Page and Malcolm "Pat" Smoot. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Shellsford Baptist Church with Donald Owens and David Daugherty officiating. Inurnment will follow in Shellsford Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at High's. Memorials may be made to Gideon Bibles or Meals on Wheels.
