Freddy "Butch" Powell

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Freddy "Butch" Powell, age 77, was born October 20, 1937 and died June 22, 2015 at Raintree Manor following an extended illness. Retired from McMinnville Housing Authority and a member of Smyrna Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Gene and Eunice Powell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Melba McBride. He was married November 23, 1960 to Bobbie Hudson Powell of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children and spouses, Greg and Andrea Powell of Nashville, TN and Janet and Christopher Cantrell of McMinnville; five grandchildren, Webb Powell, Hudson Powell and Virginia Powell all of Nashville, TN, and Skyler Ware and Kryslyn Cantrell both of McMinnville; three sisters and brother-in-law, Oma Jean Jones, Linda Jones, and Christine Keaton Prince and Paul of McMinnville; two brothers, James "Mousie" Powell and Carl Michael Powell both of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015 in High's Chapel with Ronnie Powell and Ray Weddington officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at High's. Memorial donations may be made to Relay For Life.
