McMinnville, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Leota Rose Hillis Walker, age 86, was born September 3, 1928 and died June 27, 2015 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. Retired from Genesco, a member of Laurel Creek Baptist Church, a charter member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Daughters of the Confederacy, she was the daughter of the late Rosswell Isaac and Nettie Ethel Kell Hillis. She was married on September 19, 1946 to James Alton Walker who preceded her in death on May 7, 1992. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Doyle and John Franklin Hillis; and three sisters, Minnie Grissom, Kathryn Jones and Robbie Hitchcock. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Nettie and Tommy Cutrell of McMinnville, Jimmy and Delia Walker of McMinnville, and Jamie and Natalie Walker of Spring Hill, KS; ten grandchildren and spouses, Scott and Kathy Cutrell, Rebecca Watson, and John Alexander Walker all of McMinnville, Brad and Angie Cutrell of Estill Springs, TN, Rachel and Brian Wyatt of Pikeville, TN, and Alton Ross Walker, Harlee Rhea Walker, Hannah Rain Walker, James Leelon Walker, and Isaac Mathewson Walker all of Spring Hill, KS; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Kelly Rosswell Hillis of McMinnville; sister and brother-in-law, Clara Barton and Don Smith of Florida; and several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in Crain Hill Cemetery, Van Buren County, TN with Ricky Minton officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday, and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at High's. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Meals on Wheels or Crain Hill Cemetery Fund.
