John Firm Turner

John Firm Turner, 79, of McMinnville, Tennessee passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, June 13, 2015 at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was born on September 22, 1935. He was one of 11 children born to Firm and Nora Turner. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Turner; his two daughters, Rene (David) Wells and Tanya (Fred) Hall; and his two sons, John and Greg Turner. He was loved by his seven grandchildren, John David Wells, Ryan Woodlee, Zachary Wells, Ally Woodlee, Elizabeth Wells, Mathew Wells and Paytan Hall. He is survived by his sisters, Janie Cantrell, Joyce Griffith, Karen (Perry) Mathis, Anita (Bill) Brown; brother Doug (Patsy) Turner; brother-in-law Thomas (Joan) Chandler, and 30 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Wayne and Charles Turner, and his sisters Earlene Nicks and Hazel Stevens. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1958. He made his profession in the feed and agriculture industry and in retirement carried on that passion as an avid gardener and tender of the earth and his faith. He is a member of the Mayland Church of Christ in Cumberland County and now attends West Riverside Church of Christ. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at West Riverside Church of Christ on Saturday, June 18, 2015, beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West riverside Church of Christ (101 Bell Street, McMinnville, TN 37110) or to the American Heart Association (P.O.
