Mary Elizabeth Rogers Rigsby

June 14, 1925 — July 24, 2015

Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Mary Elizabeth Rogers Rigsby, age 90, was born June 14, 1925 and died July 24, 2015 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following an extended illness. Retired from McMinnville Garment Factory and a member of Mt. Elim Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Lila Cunningham Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ferrell Rogers and M.T. Rogers; three sisters, Betty Rigsby, Frances McKnight and Linda Sue Watts; two grandsons, Trent Delong and Mark Rigsby; and son-in-law, Wilburn Delong, Jr. She was married September 17, 1949 to Fred Rigsby, Jr. of the Rocky River Community. In addition to her husband, she is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Sandra Rigsby of Rock Island, TN; two daughters, Phyllis Delong of the Rocky River Community and Carleen Lawson of McMinnville; two grandsons, Matthew Rigsby of Rock Island, TN and Travis Delong of the Rocky River Community; two great-granddaughters, Katie Fults of McMinnville and Makenzie Delong of the Rocky River Community; special friend, Alvin Lawson; brother and sister-in-law, Marcus and Ruth Rogers of McMinnville; sister and brother-in-law, Bernita and Wallace Barnes of the Irving College Community; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2015 in High's Chapel with Willard Ralph, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Crain Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday at High's.
