McMinnville resident and Warren County native Billy Reed, age 81, was born March 22, 1934 and died August 22, 2015 at St. Thomas West in Nashville, TN following a sudden illness. The proprietor of Reed Insurance Agency, retired minister of Bethlehem Church of Christ, current minister of Armstrong Church of Christ and United States Air Force veteran, he was the son of the late Robert Newton and Bessie Louise Jones Reed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ozra "Ozzie" John William Reed and two half-brothers, Meadows Reed and George Edward Reed. Mr. Reed was married November 1, 1973 to Shirley Woodlee Reed. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Courtney Ann (Jonathan) Myers of McMinnville; two sons, David Reed of McMinnville and Daniel (Heather) Reed of Hendersonville, TN; two grandchildren, Gracie Prince and Alie Fay Reed; four brothers, Bobby (Shirley) Reed of Cookeville, TN and Thomas (Sharon) Reed, Richard (Debbie) Reed and Douglas (Dessa) Reed all of McMinnville; two sisters, Annie Sue Reed and Sylvia (Landon) Cantrell both of McMinnville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Central Church of Christ with Charles Williams and Larry Bouldin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hebron Cemetery with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at High's. Area ministers of the Churches of Christ will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Boyd Christian School both c/o High's.
