Jimmy Earl "Man" Griffith

McMinnville, TN resident and DeKalb County, TN native Jimmy Earl "Man" Griffith, age 80, was born June 29, 1935 and died August 25, 2015 at Raintree Manor following a short illness. A retired insurance agent with Howard Insurance Company, a Warren County Judicial Commissioner, a United States Army veteran, and an elder at Central Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Ernest T. and Media Vaughn Griffith. He was married January 19, 1958 to Melba Elizabeth Greene Griffith who preceded him in death on November 7, 2014. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Jack Griffith; sisters and brother-in-law, Lerline and J.D. McGinness, and Jo Duncan; brother-in-law, Dewey Gay; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George Clifford and Rachel Neal Greene; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alton and Louise Greene, Kenny Greene, Wilma and Marion Pistole, Rayford Davis, Jack Pirtle, Mike Worzek and Daphne Greene. He is survived by two children and their spouses, Lisa and Randy Garrison of McMinnville and Beth and Steve Johnson of McMinnville; three grandchildren, Ross Garrison and wife Lacy of Cookeville, TN, and Taylor Elizabeth Johnson and Reed Tucker Garrison both of McMinnville; sister, Dean Gay of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, Eileen Griffith of Chattanooga, TN; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Johnny Greene, G.B. and Suzi Greene, Fred and Faye Greene, Hannah Davis, Joyce Pirtle, Linda and Jerry Davenport, and Kaye Worzek all of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Central Church of Christ with Kirk Brothers, Ben Bailey, Doug Bost, Ross Garrison and Coy Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Thursday at High's. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Church of Christ Building Fund.
