Carroll Lynn "Bigfoot" Simmons

McMinnville resident and Van Buren County, TN native Carroll Lynn "Bigfoot" Simmons, age 72, was born February 15, 1943 and died September 16, 2015 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following a sudden illness. An employee of Prince & Sons Construction and member of the Non-Denominational Church, he was the son of the late Carroll Edward and Polly Annie Manus Simmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lynn Simmons and brother, William Edward Simmons. Mr. Simmons was married October 26, 1963 to Martha Joyce Cox Simmons of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Simmons of Morrison, TN; three grandchildren, Allyn (Krystal) Hodges of Oliver Springs, TN and Andrew Simmons and Amanda Simmons both of Morrison, TN; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Johnson of Shelbyville, TN, June (Andy) Schippers of Hernando, FL and Carolyn (R.L.) Mooneyham of Spencer, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 in High's Chapel with Donnie Cox and John Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Grange Hall Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at High's.
