Morrison, TN resident and Warren County, TN native John Floyd Black, Sr., age 72, was born April 26, 1943 and died October 10, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness. A retired Lieutenant with the McMinnville Police Department, having served in the TN Army National Guard for six years, and a member of Morrison Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Herman Benjamin and Minnie Wood Black. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, John Black, Jr.; sister, Lucille Hudson; two brothers, Benny Black, Sr. and Michael Dale Black; and nephew, Benjie Black. He was married July 15, 1967 to Linda Wrisner Black of Morrison, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children and spouses, Tim and Cindy Black of Manchester, TN and Audrey and Bernie Gierucki of Morrison, TN; five grandchildren, Felicia Tucker of Arkansas, Taylyn Black and Meredith Gray both of Manchester, TN, and Ethan and Christian Gierucki both of Morrison, TN; one great-grandchild, Remmington Black of Manchester, TN; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Freddie and Joy Black, William and Theresa Black, Gary and Linda Black, Richard and Gennean Black, and David Black all of McMinnville, and Roger and Jean Black of Murfreesboro, TN; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Buddy Griffith of Smithville, TN, Peggy and James Earls of McMinnville, and Shirley and Paul Starkey of McMinnville; and sister-in-law, Nadine Black of McMinnville. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 in High's Chapel with Lanny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Morrison Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday at High's.
