Diemer Smartt Bishop

Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Diemer Smartt Bishop, age 75, was born October 6, 1940 and died October 16, 2015 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired mechanic and a member of the Church of Christ at East End, he was the son of the late Willie Richard and Martha Lou Prater Bishop. He was married to Linda Peterson Bishop who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Eugene Bishop. He is survived by sister, Linda Yates of the Rocky River Community; sister-in-law, Judy Bishop of Van Buren County, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2015 in High's Chapel with Bob McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at High's.
