Cleo Gertrude Milstead

McMinnville, TN resident and Birmingham, AL native Cleo Gertrude Milstead, age 97, was born December 21, 1918 and died January 4, 2016 at Raintree Manor following a two-month illness. A homemaker and a member of Armstrong Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Dredmon M. and Beulah Madewell Roberts. She was married March 27, 1937 to Charles William Milstead who preceded her in death on May 12, 1992. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne and Jimmy Milstead; daughter, Wilma Powell; five brothers, Jess, George, Waymon, James and Charles Roberts; and three sisters, Mildred Barnes, Lucy Cunningham and Eva Jean Nunley. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Pat Milstead of McMinnville and Eugene Milstead of McMinnville; daughter, Donna Milstead of McMinnville; eight grandchildren and spouses, Stephen and Patricia Powell of Woodbury, TN, Larry Powell of Woodbury, TN, Jena and Rick Dekker of Oshkosh, WI, Michel and Laura Milstead of Huntland, TN, Lori and Scott Hetherington of Roswell, GA, and David Milstead, Tonya and Tim Crouch, and Tricia Milstead all of McMinnville; twelve great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Maurice Powell of Woodbury, TN; daughter-in-law, Sarah Milstead of Huntland, TN; special caregiver, Brenda Mullican of McMinnville; and special extended family member, Juan Lopez of McMinnville. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016 in High's Chapel with Donald Jones and David Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Armstrong Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at High's.
