Buford Lee Hitchcock

Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Buford Lee Hitchcock, age 86, was born September 22, 1929 and died January 30, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness. A self-employed dairy farmer and a member of the Church of God, he was the son of the late Horace Edward and Sophia Electa George Hitchcock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie Lois Taylor Hitchcock; six brothers, Olney, Euclid, Carson, Houston, Carl and Kenny Hitchcock; and sister, Winona Sellars. He was married to Mary Ruth Yates Hitchcock of Rock Island, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Steve West of McMinnville, Teresa and David Collier of Rock Island, TN and Derita and Mike Reed of Rock Island, TN; two step-daughters and step-sons-in-law, Elaine and Doug Warren of McMinnville and Lesia and Derek Forgey of Pikeville, TN; five grandchildren and spouses, Jared and Jania Collier of Rock Island, TN, Krista and Jon Kent of McMinnville, Lea and Matt Heard of Pikeville, TN, and Brett Warren and Danielle Forgey both of Nashville, TN; two great-grandchildren, Mila Heard and Merci Kent; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Randle and Maudie Hitchcock of Rock Island, TN and Alvin and Dot Hitchcock of Carthage, TN; and sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and Winford Young of Smyrna, TN. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2016 in High's Chapel with Alvin Hitchcock and Jon Kent officiating. Burial will follow in Crain Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday at High's. A special thank you to the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
