Judy Gail Smartt

Judy Gail Smartt, age 71, a Sparta, TN resident and Warren County, TN native died February 18, 2016 at her residence following an extended illness. Ms. Smartt was a retired employee with the Carrier Corporation, member of the Church of Christ and daughter of the late Everett Lee and Wilma Hillis Dunlap. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Dewey Barton Dunlap. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Jean Smartt of Crozet, VA and Brandon and Krystal Smartt of Cookeville, TN; six grandchildren, Ethan, Emma and Ellie Smartt of Crozet, VA and Austin, Mason and Jackson Smartt of Cookeville, TN; great-grandchild, Jaxton Smartt of Crozet, VA; brother, Miles Dunlap of Campaign, TN; sister, Donna McBride of Sparta, TN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a faithful mother and grandmother, always placing the needs of her family first. She loved family gatherings where everyone would gather around traditional holiday meals. She never traveled much, nor was she a worldly person, but she made our world perfect by being in it. We trust now that her place with our Lord Jesus Christ is worry-free and filled with eternal glory and happiness. Be peaceful, mom. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2016 in High's Chapel with Eddie Wilhite and Brian McCutchen to officiate. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 and 12:00 p.m. Sunday until time of service at High's.
