Charles William Davis, Sr.

The Colony, TX resident and Davidson County, TN native Charles William Davis, Sr., age 85, was born March 20, 1930 and died February 21, 2016 at his daughter's residence in Texas following an extended illness. A retired Southern Baptist Minister and a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was the son of the late John William and Nellie Isabelle Meredith Davis. He was married April 1, 1956 to Delores Eloise Nellums Davis who preceded him in death November 13, 2013. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy Owen. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. and Elaine J. Davis, Jr. of Washington, D.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Julie L. and D. Thomas Barclay of The Colony, TX; six grandchildren, Jennifer L. Bond, J. Bradford Barclay, Andrew T. Barclay, Charles D. Barclay, J. Daniel Davis and Allison M. Davis; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Barclay and Bonnie Bond; and brother, John D. Davis of Baxter, TN. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 in High's Parlor with Charles Davis, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Crain Hill Cemetery with military grave rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at High's.
