McMinnville, TN resident and Hazel Green, AL native Alice Hillis Whiteaker, age 85, was born May 5, 1930 and died April 9, 2016 at her residence following an extended illness. A retired employee from Carrier Corporation, the owner and operator of Whiteaker's Gift Shop, and a member of Smartt Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Nannie Lou Hillis. She was married to Leonard Whiteaker who preceded her in death on June 5, 2002. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, A.B., Albert Lee, Remus and Martin Hillis; five sisters, Liza Wells, Martha Smithy, Mary Ella Roberts, Della Hillis and Mandy Stamps; and daughter-in-law, Judy Whiteaker. She is survived by two sons, Ricky Leonard Whiteaker of McMinnville and Danny Whiteaker of Murfreesboro, TN; three grandchildren, Daniel Jason Whiteaker and wife Amanda of Smyrna, TN, Kristy Lee Phelan and husband John of Franklin, TN and Adam Holland of Ft. Myers, FL; twelve great-grandchildren, Jordan Bader, Tabetha Phelan, special great-granddaughter, Makala Phelan, Shania Whiteaker, Danielle Whiteaker, Emma Grace Whiteaker, Amber Holland, Aubrey Holland, Reagan Holland, Cameron Daye, Hannah Daye and Haven Moore; special nieces, Elizabeth Adcock, Donna Vandagriff and Camilla Marlow Rhea; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Rebecca Pedigo and Wanda Davis. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in High's Chapel with Tim Long and Larry Vinson to officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at High's.
