William Corbitt Moffitt

William Corbitt Moffitt, 84, of McMinnville, TN passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. Bill was born on June 10, 1931 in McMinnville, TN. Upon graduation from Tennessee Tech, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served two years in the Korean War. After finishing his service, he earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee and began working for the Soil Conservation Service, mapping soils all over the State of Tennessee. After retirement, he went on to be a private soils consultant and returned to his farm in McMinnville, TN. He was an avid golfer, hunter and cattle farmer. Mr. Moffitt was preceded in death by parents, Shirley Alford and Pearl Phifer Moffitt and daughter, Amy Moffitt McKinney. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Earldean Moffitt; his son, Timothy Earl Moffitt; his daughter, Leah Moffitt Lindsey; and his two grandchildren, William Moffitt Lindsey and Lydia Nelson Lindsey. William C. Moffitt was the most loving and giving husband, father, and grandfather one could ever wish for. He will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known this great man. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016 at High Funeral Home with Rev. James Johnson to officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alexian Brothers Senior Ministries.
