Robert F. Bratcher, Jr., 82, passed away on May 28, 2016 at his apartment home in Nashville. He suffered various medical conditions over the past 15 years, but rarely complained about any of them. Born on November 18, 1933 in McMinnville, TN to the late Robert F. and Edith Mae Davis Bratcher, Sr., he attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Afterwards, he served in the Army, and following his overseas tour, moved to Nashville. Here he was known as an accomplished organist and pianist, playing at various social events. For 23 years, he was an organist at the former Christian Church on Franklin Road, and for years worked as a salesman of pianos and organs for Steinway Pianos. Those who knew him best remember his quick wit, his independent spirit, and his diverse knowledge, not only of music, but of other subjects, including culinary and historical understanding. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Marie Shorter; brother, Earl Bratcher; and brother-in-law, John W. Shorter. He is survived by niece, Sandra Sanders and her husband Gary, two great-nephews, Seth and Cole Jackson, great-niece, Michele Jackson and husband Troy, all residing in Franklin TN. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 in High's Chapel with Kathryn Huddleston officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery with military grave rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at High's.
