Herbert Eugene "Gene" Pickett

December 28, 1932 — July 24, 2016

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Herbert Eugene "Gene" Pickett, age 83, was born December 28, 1932 and died July 24, 2016 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired employee of Powermatic and member of Spring Creek Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Vernon and Lassie Taylor Pickett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Barrett and Emalene Keener and brother, Edward Lee Pickett. Mr. Pickett was married May 10, 1973 to Louise Wood Pickett of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven sons and their spouses, Anthony of Columbus, GA, Dujuan and Diane of McMinnville, Tim and Rhonda of Raleigh, NC, Dale and Regina of Manchester, TN, Jeff of Louisville, KY, Dennis and Felicia of Beech Grove, TN and Chris and Deanna of McMinnville; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Pickett and James Pickett both of McMinnville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Earline Keener, Erma & Dan Fitch and Linda and Trent Anderson all of McMinnville and Sadie Sullivan of Manchester, TN and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service and interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in Center Hill Cemetery @ Hills Creek with Danny Sullivan and George King, Jr. officiating. Military grave rites will be administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at High's.
