Robert O'Neal Wolford

Robert O’Neal Wolford was born on July 28, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Robert E. Wolford and Marjorie Bolden Wolford Thacker and died July 14, 2016. He was the oldest of five children. Robert grew up in St. Louis where he attended public school. He continued his education and graduated from Muriel Bussiness College. While employed, he acquired an advanced degree from the Industrial Management program at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indiana. Robert began his professional career at Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he worked in management for over 20 years. After moving to San Diego, California in 1982, he gained employment with General Dynamics, where he worked in advanced telecommunications products systems and technology as a manager in development, quality and performance improvement. In 2003, Robert started his own business, RO Wolford and Associates; specializing in contract auditing and quality management services. His work enabled him to travel throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Robert was an avid golfer. One of his favorite pastimes was meeting up with friends at the golf range to “hit a few balls” as he would often say. He was very involved as a member of several golf clubs and associations in Indiana and California. He is survived by his life partner, Tyree Williams of Kent Washington; step-daughter, Krystal Smith of Frankfurt, Germany; grandson, Starr Bergman of the Netherlands; sister, Ruby E. Wolford of McMinnville, TN; brother and sister-in-law, John L. and Helen Wolford of St. Louis; nephew and wife, Wayne R. Sr. and Mary V. Wolford of McMinnville; great nieces, Monica Drake and husband John and Valerie Wolford all of St. Louis; and great-nephews, Matthew Wolford and Wayne Wolford, Jr. both of St. Louis. A family Memorial graveside service and inurnments was held in Bolden Green Cemetery. Military Grave Rites were conducted by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
