Nashville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Mary Lou Barnes Curtis, age 99, was born June 11, 1917 and died August 9, 2016 at Trevecca Health and Rehab Center in Nashville, TN following a brief illness. A retired teacher with Warren County Head Start and a member of the Church of Christ at St. Mary, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Vernon and Lula Mae Nunley Barnes. She was married to Lowell Curtis who preceded her in death March 1, 1969. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by infant son, Aaron Edward Curtis; brother, L.H. "Bud" Barnes; three sisters, Irene Dodson, Georgia Killian and Juanita Downs Jackson; two half-sisters and half-brother, Nina Mae, Louise and Tommy Barnes; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Escal and Vickie Curtis. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Vicki Lon Curtis Hefley and Mike Hefley of Nashville, TN; three grandsons, Chris Hefley and wife Kelly Baker-Hefley of Franklin, TN, Curtis Hefley of San Francisco, CA and Jonathan Hefley of Nashville, TN; one great-granddaughter, Cecilia Laine Hefley of Franklin, TN; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 in High's Chapel. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at High's.
