Ralph Lewis Hamby, age 89, a McMinnville, TN resident and Winston, GA native died September 3, 2016 in Webb House of McMinnville following a brief illness. He was a retired mechanic with American Airlines, veteran of the United States Army Air Corps in World War II, member of the Baptist Church and son of the late Reese Frank Hamby and the late Cathleene Winkle Hamby. Mr. Hamby was married July 25, 1952 to Mildred Imogene Bost Hamby who preceded him in death. In addition to his father and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Howard Mitchell Hamby and Louie Hamby; sister, Helen Hamby Scott; step-mother, Mary Drake Hamby; brothers-in-law, Willie, Clarence, Julius, John Roy and Marshall Lee Bost; and sisters-in-law, Lila Mae Couch, Myrtle Bost and Evelyn McCormick. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Macie & Arnold Graves of Gainesville, GA; sisters-in-law, Verna Aline West of McMinnville and Diane Hamby of Modesta, CA; and brother-in-law, Joe Scott of Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in High’s Chapel with Doug Bost to officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery with military grave rites to be conducted by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2016 and 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of service at High’s.
