McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Julia Grace Winfree Pitts, age 87, was born May 9, 1929 and died September 6, 2016 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following a sudden illness. A homemaker and member of Central Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Buford and Quixie Marie Newby Turner. She was married to first husband, C.S. Winfree who preceded her in death in 1997 and second husband, Flavil Ray Pitts who preceded her in death in 2016. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by grandson, Colby King. She is survived by three children and spouses, Thomas and Sonjia Winfree of McMinnville, Ronald Winfree of Orland, IN and Karen and Darrell Walters of Greenbrier, TN; eleven grandchildren and spouses, Andrew (Crystal) Winfree, Matteo (Jill) Winfree, Elizabeth (Jamie) Sutton, Brooke (David) Rochelle, Dana (Jeremy) Case, Bonnie (Ethan) Bowles, Rachel (Jeremy) Barnes, Amanda (Zack) Davis, Talekia King, Kevin Hillis and Tommy (Holly) Hills; seventeen great-grandchildren, Seth, Christian and Bianca Sutton, Joshua Winfree, Lillianna and Violet Winfree, Sidney Steele, Isabella and David Case, Eleanor Bowles, Zackery and Kaitlyn Barnes, Peyton and Lakelyn Davis, Madison King, Grayson Hillis and Kaizer Hillis; two brothers and sister-in-law, Richard Turner and Rennee Basham of McMinnville and Robert and Pat Turner of Allen Park, MI; and special niece, Kathy Winfree. Julia loved Jesus, life and her family. She exemplified a Christian wife and mother in every aspect of her life, whether it was homemaking, caring for her family or providing for her family while working at Century/Magnetek. She always gave credit to the Lord for every blessing of her life, whether it was the birds and flowers or the smiles of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren or her own children. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2016 in High's Chapel with Ben Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Blues Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at High's.
