McMinnville resident and North Carolina native Garnett Jewell McCormack, age 81, was born May 6, 1935 and died September 24, 2016 at Raintree Manor following an extended illness. A retired plumber and electrician with Byars Plumbing and Electric, United States Army veteran and member of the Smyrna Church of Christ, he was the son of the late H.D. and Tellie Brady McCormack. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arlen McCormack and brother-in-law, Gary Gooch. Mr. McCormack is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Garnett and Linda McCormack, Jr. of McMinnville; daughter, Renee McCormack Driver Breedlove of McMinnville; former wife and special friend, Georgia Wilks of McMinnville; two granddaughters, Jacklyn Driver and Jessica Holland both of McMinnville; great-grandson, Japeth Gilley of McMinnville; two brothers and sister-in-law, William and wife Betty McCormack of McMinnville and Humphrey McCormack, Jr. of McMinnville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Johnny Sue Simerly and husband Leroy of Quebeck, TN, Joann Page and husband Bill of Smithville, TN, Carline Gooch Butts and husband Charlie of McMinnville, and Patsy Paquette and the late George Paquette of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Delores McCormack of McMinnville; special cousin, Bobby McCormack of McMinnville; special friend, Billy Joe Cope of McMinnville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. Mr. McCormack will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in High's Chapel with Timmy McCormack and Doug Hoff officiating. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and 10:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at High's.
